Another sign universities will change or die

So I wanted to download some lecture handouts for one of my courses at university. I visit the course’s website and I scroll down to the handouts. Where I read the following:

All lecture handouts can only be accessed from campus.

There is no access from non-RHUL ip addresses.

Which means that in order to get the handouts from home, I have to either set up a VPN or ssh into the department’s network. Or use the NX Client to do so.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is another sign that the majority of universities are going to die sooner or later. Why the fuck do you limit accessibility to your resources?

(Especially when your top competitors strive to make theirs as accessible as possible)
